North American CHE Network Coordinates Efforts to Expand the CHE Movement
Terry Dalrymple, January 14, 2011
The North American CHE Network gathered in Louisville, Kentucky, in November. They prayed together and created solutions to advance the goals of the movement. Several task forces were commissioned. See descriptions below and find out how you can get involved:
Task force to equip short-term teams for CHE related ministries
Materials are being developed to better support short-term teams in their efforts for meaningful engagement with their overseas partners. Input is being sought from around the world. To contribute your experience to this effort, contact Harry Porter
.
Task force for moving North American churches toward more integral approaches to mission
The North American CHE Network at a meeting in Louisville discussed strategies for helping the church in North America to think about ministry in a more wholistic and developmental way. Ideas were exchanged about how to change the mindset of dualistic and relief oriented churches. Suggestions included distributing books such as When Helping Hurts by Brian Fikkert and Steve Corbett, offering short seminars to pastors and key mission leaders, teaching CHE workshops at church and mission conferences, and providing training for short term teams. To contribute your thoughts and experience to this effort, contact Nancy Meredith
.
Task force for Eastern Europe
A group is coming together from all over Eastern Europe to strategize for the expansion of the CHE movement there. According to research gathered by Greater European Mission, only 42% of the people of Eastern Europe believe that there is a personal God. Europe has the highest percentage of agnostics and some of the most resistant people to Christianity. Christianity is viewed as old fashioned and a thing of the past. Our prayer is that we might contribute in some small way to the revitalization of churches throughout the region by equipping them for constructive engagement with the communities they serve. For more information or to be part of the CHE surge in Eastern Europe, please contact Dave and Catherine Sevier

Founders Gather in Phoenix, AZ, USA
February 2010 Terry Dalrymple
In February, CHE leaders from different organizations gathered in Phoenix, AZ to establish the Global CHE Network in North America. Discussions at these meetings focused on the question, "How can we expand the CHE movement into every corner of the world and strengthen each other’s ministries using our collective assets for the sake of the Kingdom of God?” Strategic plans were written. The plans include a vision and mission statement as well as action plans.
Before these meetings convened a survey was conducted to find answers to the question of what CHE trainers and coordinators needed most from the Network. Click here to see the results of Founders Survey (.pdf document).
